This exceptional and heavy antique railway signal lamp was manufactured by Adlake (The Adams & Westlake Company) in Chicago, a renowned American maker of railroad equipment. This piece is complete and in working condition, featuring its original oil reservoir, marked with The Adams and Westlake Company Makers Chicago.
The lamp bears the inscription “The Non-Sweating Adlake Lamp Chicago” on the top, a hallmark of authenticity. It includes two red and two white enamel-rimmed lenses, a rare and highly collectible feature. These lamps were historically used as railway signal lights and stoplights, often mounted on a mechanism for easy rotation.
While the lamp is functional, the wick holder sits slightly high, causing smoke during use—so indoor burning is not recommended. Its authentic patina and scent evoke the atmosphere of an old train depot, adding to its historical charm.
Key Features:
A rare and impressive piece for collectors of railway memorabilia or as a unique decorative object for any interior.
